Ross and his team return to Britain's frontline in Afghanistan. Once again, they have made a significant, eye opening documentary series about the harsh realities of war and paint an accurate and colourful portrait of the British soldier fighting the Taliban. Ross is based in the small town of Musa Qaleh. A year ago this area was under heavy Taliban control. It is ideally placed between Iran and Pakistan and the Taliban made a lot of money dealing in arms and opium, the profits of which funded their war against the west. Ross goes on three operations with Delta Company deep into the inhospitable green zone. Here there is the constant threat of ambush and IED strike. The Taliban are hardened fighters, who engage British troops in fierce fights, resulting in some of the most dramatic and compelling scenes of the conflict to be shown on television. The base is also home to the Royal Irish who are training the Afghan National Army. Ross deploys with them for one operation and witnesses for himself the ferocity and determination of the Afghan soldier as they become involved in some of the toughest kinetic fighting. After four weeks in Helmand, Ross returns to the UK to meet with the injured at Headley Court, a rehabilitation hospital for injured soldiers. Here he meets several amputees, one of the most common injuries of the war caused by treading on IEDs and mines. Finally, in early 2009, Ross travels to Kabul, Afghanistan's capital. He's looking for answers to the conflict's future and Britain's involvement in Afghanistan. To help him answer some of his many questions Ross meets with the British Ambassador. He then travels on to Kajaki where he was posted in the first series with the Royal Anglian's. Here he goes on patrol with the Royal Marines. In a tragic incident a Marine is killed on the operation. It's a poignant, sad conclusion to the series that only highlights further the immense sacrifice being made by our soldiers and their families.

In Biarritz, he discovers how Britain's 'railway king' Edward VII made the region popular and how he amused himself in the fashionable resort. Across the border in San Sebastian, Michael learns how dynastic diplomacy brought Britain and Spain closer together and rides a hair-raising scenic railway. Heading into the Spanish Basque country, in Bilbao, Michael explores the industrial ties between the two nations and learns to cook a traditional Basque dish. (S.2,Ep.6) (From the UK) G CC

With her interest in Buddhism piqued, and her love of yoga firmly entrenched, Judith travels to India to immerse herself in the birthplace of both of those things. She discovers that religion and spirituality in India are like the Kardashian family in the West - you just can't avoid them. Leaving behind the steamy bustle of Delhi, she travels to Bodhgaya to visit the Bodhi tree, where Lord Buddha is supposed to have sat until he became enlightened. It's an awe-inspiring place, and Judith takes the opportunity to practise her new-found meditation skills, before she meets a young Australian woman who gave up her job, house and marriage to follow Buddhism to India. In Varanasi, the sacred city of the Hindu god Shiva, the master of yoga, Judith finds a different kind of spirituality - one which isn't contained in temples but is everywhere from the stunning riot of colour surrounding the river Ganges to the backstreets patrolled by mangy dogs. This time she meets an American woman who gave up her job, house and marriages to follow Hinduism to India -and intends to die here. In an emotional ceremony, Judith gets a special blessing from a group of hot young priests during one of the nightly rituals on the Ganges, and she gets to practise yoga on a boat on the famous river. Arriving back in Australia, Judith keeps a promise to Brisbane's rebel priest Peter Kennedy and joins his church for a very special service, where she sums up her journey with a dose of what she calls "spiritual standup".
